About Our Founder, Shayla Hufana
As a passionate and results-driven Visual Artist, Graphic Designer, and Art/Creative Director, Shayla excels in transforming visionary concepts into award-winning designs that captivate audiences and elevate brand success. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design and over 16 years of experience across diverse industries—aerospace, luxury retail, sports, technology, hospitality, and nonprofit—she brings a unique blend of creativity and strategic thinking to every project. In 2023, Shayla was recognized as a design leader in the GDUSA (Graphic Design USA) publication on their People to Watch list.
In 2011, Shayla founded ConceptShell. As a freelancer, she’s worked with local and small businesses to help people build and beautify their brands. As a queer, Asian woman who’s part of the LGBTQ+ community, it’s important to her to inspire, motivate others, and elevate voices, especially youth, through art and design. In 2024, ConceptShell became an LLC and has continued to maintain and build successful relationships with clients such as the City of Seattle, BLK Mamas Collective, Laro Tayo ("Let’s Play”) family social corner, WNBA Seattle Storm and NHL Seattle Kraken.
Outside of ConceptShell, Shayla was a Creative Lead (Senior Art Director/Manager/Designer) for the Cognizant global in-house creative team for 3 years. Before that, she was a Senior Designer/Art Director with Boeing for 6 years. Shayla served for 2 years as a Co-Chair for the Seattle Chapter of SEGD (Society of Experiential Graphic Design) and was 1 of 8 members on the advisory board of the first-ever Racial Justice Commission. Shayla’s work can be seen nationally, from Washington and California to Hawaii and New York, and globally, including in Africa, Canada, China, India, and Mexico.
In Shayla’s free time, she loves to draw, paint, refurbish furniture, collect sneakers, play sports, and travel with family and friends. To learn more about Shayla, visit and connect with her here:
